Subspecialty of orthopedic surgery and traumatology
Hand and upper extremity surgery is a subspecialty of orthopedic surgery and traumatology. Daily practice requires specific theoretical and practical knowledge of the upper extremity, as well as knowledge and skills in anatomy, surgical access, osteosynthesis, arthroscopy, skin coverage, and microsurgery.
This knowledge is acquired through many years of study at other centers and specific courses in arthroscopy, osteosynthesis, microsurgery, etc. To help students acquire this knowledge in an organized manner, both theoretically and practically, this Master’s degree in hand and upper extremity surgery is offered.
The subspecialization in hand and upper extremity surgery will allow the student/fellow to acquire the basic and essential knowledge to be able to perform common techniques, and will qualify them theoretically to be able to take the European Board of Hand Surgery Diploma Examination of the European Federation of European Societies for Surgery of the Hand (FESSH).
